Not all Canadian receive pay when suspended

Post by Doodoo » April 22, 2024, 9:09 am

Ontario is the only province that requires all suspended police officers to be paid, a little-known law that erodes the public’s trust in the ability of cops to police themselves, says a group representing police chiefs from across the province.

Two Edmonton Police Service officers who joined a "Freedom Convoy" rally in southern Alberta have been "relieved of duty without pay" while they await the results of a disciplinary process.

Under the RCMP Act, a member may be suspended if suspected or found to have contravened a federal or provincial law or the RCMP Code of Conduct. Most suspensions are with full pay, however, in cases of very serious misconduct an officer may be suspended without pay.

Doodoo, look at your subject title that refers to 'not all Canadians receive pay when suspended', and then you go on and limit yourself to discussing the RCMP and perhaps, the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police). What about the other Canadians: teachers, labourers, office workers, service workers and so on? You have neglected them. There's still time to change your subject title if you care to. As it stands, you might be confusing some of your more avid admirers.

Well you must understand it , why, because you are commenting that I missed others when you know and I know it was about police and your earlier comments.

Good luck
